Best Book Storage Ideas

If you're an avid book reader like me, chances are you've got a bookshelf somewhere in your house that is cram packed with books.  There's not much rhyme or reason to the organization, in fact you have so many books that the bookshelf looks fit to burst.

It doesn't have to be this way!  Your beloved books can turn from a storage nightmare to the most eye catching decoration in your home by following a few of these examples.

Projects worked with homeowners to turn this room into a cozy yet sophisticated den.  The handsome built-in bookshelves with sconces wired into the pillars make this the perfect place to curl up with a good book.  You can see that books are stored both vertically and horizontally and are sorted by color, which adds some visual interest to this space.

This built in storage and bookshelf, also by Projects,  features leaded glass doors, bright white cabinetry, and has created function and utility in an previously unused space.  In this instance, the shelves are used more as a design element rather than a purely functional bookshelf, and the result is a clean and modern way to store and showcase their prized books.

Here are a few other examples from Design Sponge of gorgeous and functional ways to display your books.  How do you display your own books at home?
